Nearing 90 (And Other Comedies of Late Life)
(Simon & Schuster, 2019)

Judith Viorst is the author of 40 books for adults and children, including the beloved Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Her newest book, Nearing 90, is the latest in her “decade” series, which began with It’s Hard to Be Hip Over 30. Accompanied by Laura Gibson’s whimsical illustrations, Nearing 90 explores, with Viorst’s signature savvy and humor, what it means to be an impending nonagenarian. While she struggles to stay up to midnight on New Year’s Eve, while she’s starting to hear more eulogies than symphonies, while she’ll forever be disheartened by what she weighs (and forever unable to stop weighing herself), there is plenty to cherish at 90: playing a relentless game of Scrabble with friends and still sleeping tush-to-tush with the same man to whom she’s been married for 60 years.
